All psyched out for my upcoming trip to Marrakech in a day, I’ve decided to do something different by posting my pre-trip research first.
Landing in Marrakesh on the 11th morning, we’ll be chauffeured (for once) from the airport to our hotel Riad Spa du Chameau (chauffeur service at around 10euros, and hotel around 10pounds each). With sites like the Palais El Badii, Saadian Tombs and Palais de la Bahia nearby, we will ideally visit these spots right after lunch. According to Lonely Planet, entrance fee would be roughly 10DH (80pence). Thereafter, presuming we have no time, we’d definitely dedicate a couple of hours through late afternoon till evening to explore the Jemaa El Fna and the rest of the Medina, perhaps catching sunset on one of the rooftop cafe terraces. We’d definitely want to visit the Majorelle Gardens, and maybe the Jardin Secret, but we might perhaps leave it to the last day (Day 6). A food lover, I’m already looking forward to the tagines, (not so much of couscous as that’s what I’m already eating quite frequently here), Morrocan doughnuts, crepes, and street food.
Day 2 till 5 will find us exploring the Sahara Dessert for just around 100 quid, with camel rides, stargazing, living in Berber camps — can’t wait to escape from the rainy supposed-ly Spring weather in Britain into the welcoming sun in Morocco!
